Benguet-based hydro company SN Aboitiz Power is planning an emergency drill to be participated in by Benguet Philippine National Police and local government units to promote emergency preparedness.
SNAP spokesperson Mike Hosillos said that the SNAP’s safety, health, environment, and security and risk management teams had their first coordination meeting on October 10, 2017 with representatives from different partners such as the PNP, Bokod Bureau of Fire Protection, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, and Barangay Ambuklao.
The activity is fully supported by Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso, who endorsed the activity to the local government agencies on October 4, 2017.
“This will be the first inter-organization emergency drill of this scope in Benguet. While we are still working out the details, our aim to instill emergency preparedness in our company and our host communities and keep improving our emergency procedures and contingency plan,” Hosillos added.
SNAP-Benguet owns and operates the 105-megawatt Ambuklao Hydrolectric Power Plant in Bokod and the 140-MW Binga hydro in Itogon. It is a joint venture of SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower.
