Renewable energy provider SN Aboitiz Power Group (SNAP Group) topped off 2018 by sharing gifts to nearly 1,600 elementary school children and 55 school officials from its host communities in Benguet, Ifugao, and Isabela.

The gift-giving activity is annually held for the host communities of the hydroelectric power plants owned and managed by the SNAP Group. This is one of the company’s ways of giving back to the community—both as a holiday tradition and as part its corporate citizenship projects.

SNAP Group’s President and CEO Joseph Yu, together with other executives and volunteers, led the activities held Ambatali Elementary School in Ramon, Isabela on December 3 where 446 kids and 17 school officials were gifted with lunch boxes.

In his message, Yu warmly welcomed Ambatali to the SNAP family as the municipality is one of the company’s new host communities. Ambatali is a major stakeholder of SNAP’s Maris Main Canal Hydroelectric Power plant inaugurated in January 2018. Maris hydro is the first power plant constructed by SNAP Group since it acquired Magat hydro in 2007 through privatization.

Similar lunch boxes were distributed on December 4 to 995 students and 30 school officials from General Aguinaldo Elementary School in Ramon, Isabela and Sto. Domingo Elementary School in Alfonso Lista, Ifugao—hosts of Magat hydro.

Meanwhile, Yu also led the gift-giving activities in Binga Elementary School in Itogon, Benguet where 137 kids and eight teachers also received lunch boxes on December 5.

SNAP Group is a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower. It supplies clean, renewable and dependable energy through the operation of the 360- to 380-MW Magat Hydroelectric Power Plant (HEPP) on the border of Isabela and Ifugao, the 8.5-megawatt (MW) Maris Main Canal HEPP as well as the 105-MW Ambuklao HEPP and the 140-MW Binga HEPP in the province of Benguet.
