In line with its commitment to fostering a more sustainable future especially for Indigenous communities, renewable energy provider SNAP-Benguet, along with other government agencies, supported Tinongdan Indigenous Peoples Organization (TINPO) projects to achieve its community development goals. On July 2, 2024, multiple TINPO projects funded by various organizations were inaugurated and blessed at Sito Cawayan, Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet. These projects included the rice warehouse building funded by the Department of Agriculture Cordillera Administrative Region (DA-CAR) and its extension funded by SNAP-Benguet; a palay shed and multi-purpose drying pavement funded by DA-CAR; and the rehabilitation of the Baneng-Mamodati-Barat-Cawayan Tinongdan community irrigation system (CIS), which received funds from DA-CAR, National Irrigation Administration (NIA-CAR), the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Itogon, and SNAP-Benguet, among others. Hon. Norberto Pacio, Itogon Municipal Councilor and TINPO Chairperson expressed delight at the agencies present for their unwavering support for their projects. He particularly mentioned SNAP-Benguet as the only private agency that supported their endeavors. DA-CAR Regional Director Atty. Jennilyn Dawayan emphasized the importance of close collaboration between the private and public sectors in developing and improving communities. She highlighted TINPO’s rice warehouse building with a multi-purpose hall funded by their agency and was expanded through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of SNAP-Benguet. These projects facilitate economic growth and self-sufficiency. TINPO hopes to create a resilient and thriving community, fully supported by SNAP-Benguet. SNAP-Benguet represented by Safety, Health, Environment, Security, and Quality (SHESQ) Manager Wilma Monje underscored the power of collaboration to effectively implement TINPO’s initiatives. “These projects create a positive impact in our communities by providing the necessary resources that enable our farmers to thrive— by working together, we leverage our combined resources to address local needs more efficiently,” she added. The event concluded with a tree-planting activity that promotes continued partnership and sustainable development practices. Present during the inauguration and blessing were DA-CAR, NIA-CAR, Benguet Provincial Agriculture Office, Itogon LGU, Itogon Municipal Agriculture Office, Barangay Council of Tinongdan, TINPO elders and members, SNAP-Benguet, and leaders of the farmer’s association in Tinongdan.
